Date set for Garry Tonons MMA debut
Garry Tonons long awaited MMA debut will take place at ONE Championship’s upcoming event in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 24.
In his first match Tonon will face the phillipines fighter Richard “Notorious” Corminal at lightweight. Corminal has a record of 4-3-0 with all 4 of his wins coming way of knockout.
Tonon has been training for his MMA debut at Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada, home of former UFC champion George St Pierre and Rory McDonald. Tristar Gym has long been associated with Tonons home gym Renzo Gracie academy and head coach Firas Zihabi is one of the most respected coaches in mixed martial arts.
Tonon is famous for his leg lock attacks and submission grappling but is also a strong wrestler as shown previously in his matchup with Palhares.
